What is PRT?

The Full Form of PRT is Primary Teacher. An elementary school teacher is often referred to as a primary teacher. They are responsible to teach the students of mainly primary classes from 1st to 5th.

To become a primary teacher a candidate must possess a diploma in elementary education i.e. the D.EI.Ed. Diploma in elementary education or D.El.Ed is a 2-year full-time diploma course with in-built classroom training for the candidate as well.

Many private and government colleges/ universities are providing diploma courses in elementary education such as the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Indra Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) etc. are the major institutes offering the diploma course.

What is TGT? : Trained Graduate Teacher (Class : 6th – 8th).

What is PGT? : Post Graduate Teacher (Class : 9th – 12th).

Subject expertise is required for specific subjects. For example : SST.
What is SST? : Social Science Teacher.

  • Strong knowledge of Social Science subject.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

  • Capable to teach the concerned subject.
  • Prepare daily and longer-term lesson plans in accordance with curriculum guidelines.
  • Develop children`s interests, abilities and coordination using creative activities such as Art, Music and Sport.
  • Use Computers to assist with lesson preparation, teaching and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain good working habits and discipline in classrooms.
  • Supervise students during classes and at other times in the school day, including in the playground during breaks.
  • Attend staff meetings and other training and development sessions.
  • Assess and evaluate students` progress in written and oral work.
  • Discuss students progress and concerns with parents and administrators.
  • Prepare for and attend Parent - Teacher Interviews and other functions.
